Bring a splash of tropical color and personality into your day with this Flamingo collection, inspired by my firsthand experiences observing these remarkable birds in Florida.
These illustrations were inspired by three flamingos I observed at the Jacksonville Zoo, along with the flamingos I had the opportunity to meet during the Flamingo Mingle experience at Discovery Cove in Orlando. While each bird was beautiful in its own way, what stood out most was their individual personalities. Their handlers joked that there wasn’t always a lot going on upstairs, which only made them more endearing. One young male flamingo named Frances was especially memorable, enthusiastically making friends with every human he encountered and bringing smiles wherever he went.
With their brilliant pink plumage, elegant silhouettes, and sometimes delightfully goofy behavior, flamingos are far more than just beautiful birds. They are curious, social, and endlessly entertaining to watch. These original illustrations celebrate both their grace and their charm, capturing the joy of observing them up close.

These flamingo illustrations were inspired by visits to the Jacksonville Zoo and Discovery Cove in Orlando. While Northeast Florida is generally a bit cool for flamingos, an occasional wild flamingo may still appear creating delight and excitement.
Watching these birds up close revealed so much more than their famous appearance. Their elegant movements, vibrant colors, amusing antics, and surprisingly expressive personalities made them a joy to photograph, sketch, and later transform into detailed illustrations.
Every design begins with my own wildlife photography and personal experiences exploring Florida’s wildlife and natural places. I carefully hand illustrate each piece to celebrate the beauty, character, and wonder of the animals that inspire my work.
