This sea turtle bookmark was inspired by my real-life encounters with unforgettable moments watching sea turtles in the wild. Sea turtles were among the very first creatures I drew that truly felt like Florida to me.
The artwork is based on a juvenile green sea turtle, inspired by a photograph taken at the Grand Cayman Turtle Refuge. While I’ll admit I still sometimes struggle to tell a green sea turtle from a loggerhead at a glance, that curiosity led me down a joyful rabbit hole of learning—books, research, and a deep appreciation for these ancient marine animals.
Sea turtles nest along Florida’s beaches, and knowing that these creatures return to the very sands where they were born makes them feel all the more special. This sticker is a small tribute to that wonder.
