Celebrate the quiet strength and beauty of Florida’s iconic black bear with this original illustration. This design was inspired by a remarkable moment captured by the previous homeowners, who photographed a Florida black bear walking through what is now my backyard. Knowing that these incredible animals still roam the surrounding landscape were the start of the wonder and excitement that made me pay better attention to the wildlife around me in the every day.
Florida black bears are an important part of the state’s wild heritage, often moving silently through forests, wetlands, and natural corridors while remaining largely unseen. This illustration honors the beauty of these elusive animals and the wild spaces they continue to call home.

This illustration was inspired by a photograph of a Florida black bear walking through my backyard before I lived here. Learning that such an incredible animal had passed through this property was a reminder that we share our communities with native wildlife. I carefully hand illustrated this bear to celebrate the beauty, resilience, and quiet presence of Florida’s wild inhabitants.
